Sunday, April 1st, Day 4
We got up this morning and all we could think about was the “Rib Dude”! So that was our main objective when we went out…..to find him! We ate some danishes, that we brought with us, in our room and we were off. Our golf cart had stalled a couple of times so we dropped that one off and got another one as we passed by. Then….there he was like a beacon in the night!....the “Rib Dude”!!!!!
We got a ˝ kilo of boneless ribs for $750 pesos. This comes with tortillas, black bean sauce and pico de gallo. We picked up some more Dr. Pepper at Miritita grocery store and we headed back to Punta Piedra II. We weren’t really very hungry yet but we wanted to get some ribs before he sold out! So we dropped off our food and decided to go for a little drive down to the South side of the island in the golf cart. There are so many new houses along the Caribbean side since we were here in December of 2003.
We went to the Caribbean Village where the light house is standing. I took a few pictures.
This is the little restaurant.
These are the ugly statues on Punta Sur.
The light house.
Around by the bathrooms (These bathrooms are very nice if you are down this way and need one)
Then we went around back and did a little shopping with the vendors displaying their wares.
Lauren bought several things. I got a necklace and I wanted it a little longer.
Not a very good picture but
Daniel was happy to adjust the length, by adding more beads, while we waited. Here is his picture.
Super nice guy. We were headed back to the golf cart and ran into this guy.
Back in the cart and off we went on around the island to the place by Mundaca Zoo and Lauren wanted to do a little shopping so we stopped.
We went on around past the statue and Lauren was driving now and she didn’t even touch the brakes on this corner. I had to hang on to keep from falling out! Stuff went flying out of the golf cart onto the road. I was yelling “STOP”. She stopped and was laughing hysterically and couldn’t stop. She does this sometimes, especially when I am yelling and she knows I am mad and that she just scared the crap out of me! When she finally got control of herself and I calmed down. I said, you have to brake a little when you turn! OK Mom. We drove all the way up to the Dolphin Discovery and turned around. Lots of building over here too.
Here are a few pics on our way back to PPII.
We went back to our own private beach at PPII and spent the rest of the day. About 7pm we headed out. We took a few pics on the way to Digi Me.
At Digi Me for $15 pesos you can get on the computer for an hour. Lauren really wanted to chat with her friends (she is a teenager) and so we stayed for an hour. Then we headed to the town square to try some of the vendors homemade food! Yummy! You are really missing out on some great food at fantastic prices if you don’t do this. We tried a vanilla cake and chocolate cake with chocolate flan (huge pieces for $15 pesos), 3 pork and cheese empanadas for $20 pesos, and an awesome pork torta for only $15 pesos. We both shared everything and man was it good! We walked down Hidalgo and ran into Ed and Laura friends of Al and Jeanette that we had met the other night. I walked with them and visited. Then all of a sudden, there he was (theme from Jaws) the time share shark! He was talking to a couple that I had met earlier. I stepped up to him and said” You guys are the biggest liars! You wrote on the piece of paper you gave me and I signed that I would get 2 days in a golf cart and when I arrived at Mayan Palace they told me I only got one! The couple looked at me then looked at him and they smiled at me and walked away. He was hoping mad! And I was smiling the whole time. He said, you had a debit card not a credit card and that is why you only got one day. I said that my debit card has a $2000 credit limit on it! I can charge with it as well as debit. He said that the guy that signed me up had to pay for the day that I did get on the golf cart. I said well, sorry for him but he didn’t even ask me if I had a credit card before we went. I wasted a day of my vacation and my golf cart that I had already paid for sat in front of our hotel while we went for the time share. I will continue to go by there every day that I am here and tell anyone I see him talking to what happened. It will cost them more that a day in a golf cart by the time we go home. I am a fairly laid back person and it takes a lot to make me mad, but, when you take a day of my Isla vacation and then not give me what you promised. It really pisses me off! I think I really embarrassed Ed and Laura. For that, I felt bad.
Lauren and I decided to head over to Cool and try their ice Cream. We said bye to Ed & Laura. A waffle cone was $25 pesos and a cup was $20 pesos. They were delicious! We met Deb from NJ and her beautiful family. What a nice bunch. Right after that it started to rain so we headed back to PPII. When it stopped raining I jogged in the pool while Lauren and I talked and laughed.
Another perfect ending to a perfect day in Paradise. (Damn those time share sharks!)
